The Trixie San Fernando Scratching Post is great to keep your cat busy and well-exercised. The flat, padded platforms and cubbies are covered with soft, plush polyester covers. Inside each cave or cubby is fleece (polyester) to make cat naps cosier. The hammock has a removable cover so it can be washed by hand to keep it clean. Besides climbing and using the scratching posts, your cat can also play with the toy dangling from a string.
Scratching is a normal feline behavior. Cats scratch to mark their territory with the scent released from their paw pads every time they scratch. They also scratch to condition their claws, which means if there aren’t enough scratching outlets at home, they’d turn to your sofa, curtains, and beds. Adding cat furniture, i.e. cat scratch board and/or cat scratch pole, reduces boredom-based furniture destruction and re-directs your cat’s energy onto scratching something productive.
